The interest-rate differential
Every currency has a central-bank policy rate. Hold a position past midnight UTC and you pay or earn the differential between the two currencies' rates, adjusted by our wholesale funding cost.
MetaTrader 5 is the authoritative source for swap rates. Figures below are updated daily from the broker desk and may differ from the prevailing MT5 value during periods of volatility, around central-bank events, or when the funding curve shifts intraday. For execution-time accuracy, always check the live rate in MT5 → right-click symbol → Specification.

How swap works
The interest you pay (or earn) for holding overnight
Triple swap on Wednesday
Forex value-dates settle T+2. Positions held through Wednesday roll over the weekend (3 days) in one charge instead of three · so you'll see a 3× larger swap that night.
Zero on Islamic accounts
Swap-free conditions on the Classic account · FX and Gold only, up to two weeks per position. After the two-week window an administrative fee may apply, fully disclosed in advance.
MT5 remains canonical
Figures on this page are refreshed once per business day from the broker desk. The exact rate applied to your account is the one shown live in MT5 at the moment of the rollover, which can differ during volatile sessions or around central-bank decisions. Right-click any symbol in MT5 and choose Specification for the prevailing value.
The carry-trade strategy
Going long a high-yielder (TRY, MXN, BRL) vs short a low-yielder (JPY, CHF) earns daily swap. The risk: a single risk-off shock can wipe out months of carry in hours.
Hidden cost for swing traders
Holding a 1-lot EUR/USD for 4 weeks adds roughly $80 in swap on the long side · enough to flip a 30-pip winner into a loser. Always include swap in your expected-value maths.
